A. Presentation
1. Teacher reads “Sara’s story” as students listen and have them fill in the blanks.
My friend and I are at the shop right now. She is trying a new dress she wants to buy, and I am looking for new shoes. I wonder what is taking her so long. Ah, there she is. She doesn’t look very excited. She says she’s not spending so much on a dress if it isn’t perfect. It looks fine to me. Also, she is not sure if she is wearing a dress at the party any more. “Well, try another one”, I tell her.

How to form Present Continuous:
1. Positive

- Negative

Example: I am not buying a new shirt tomorrow.

Example: Is he buying a new shirt tomorrow?
When to use Present Continuous Tense?
We use Present Continuous Tense to talk about what we are doing NOW,
BUT ALSO to talk about what we plan to do in the future!

1. Underline the present continuous verbs used for future.
1. Tom is reading a book and Emma is watching TV now.
2. I am buying a new handbag next week.
3. Are you renting the bike tomorrow or not?
4. I am paying the phone bill.

Put the words in brackets in Present Continuous.
Example: Tony (goes) to the store to buy some clothes.
= Tony is going to the store to buy some clothes.

1. Pair Work:
Student A is going shopping on Sunday. Think about 10 things you need, and planning to buy. Student B think about 10 questions you would like to ask after hearing your friend’s shopping plans.
