Cause and Effect English Grammar Practices – Part 1
This is a series of short practice exercises on Cause and Effect relationship.
This is Part 1 and it has only 5 items where you’re asked to write the cause and effect for each sentence.

Lets do a quick revision before we get started.
CAUSE
refers to a person, event, condition or reason that is responsible for an action or result
EFFECT
refers to a result brought about by a cause or agent
Exercise 1
Write the cause and effect
1. Jim forgot his English book, so he was unable to complete his homework.
Cause: Jim forgot his English book.
Effect: He was unable to complete his homework.
2. Jerry was hungry because he skipped lunch.
Cause: Jerry skipped lunch.
Effect: He was hungry.
3. Joey’s car had a flat tire, so he called a tow truck.
Cause: Joey’s car had a flat tire.
Effect: He called a tow truck.
4. Jane couldn’t find the cookies because her brother hide them in the cupboard.
Cause: Her brother hide the cookies in the cupboard.
Effect: Jane couldn’t find them.
5. Sam studied her spelling words and she got an A on the test.
Cause: Sam studied her spelling words.
Effect: She got an A on her test.
