In this starter pack tutorial for beginners, learners will be able to learn the concept of “ Greetings and Introduction”. What does “ Greetings and Introduction” means? How to formally express the “ Greetings and Introduction” specially to talk to a new person. Why is it “ Greetings and Introduction” important to build a polite manner?.

This lesson is a great way to show students talk about when they meet a new person as well as teach those appropriate greetings and farewell or goodbye that is polite.

1. Objective: After this lesson the students will be able to;

-greet in different ways

– introduce people and say where they are from.

-give answers to the appropriate question

1. A ball or something that can be thrown across the classroom

A. Pre-Activity

1. Warm-up

1. Ask students what they say when they see someone they know. Elicit “Hello” and ask students what other greetings they know.

On the board write:

Hello                           Goodbye                     Hi                    Good morning

2. Ask student which one is not a greeting.

3. Have the students greet as many of their classmates as possible. Encourage them to use as many different greetings as possible.

B. Activity Proper

1. on the board write:

How are you?                                      Where are you from?

I’m fine, thanks!                                 I’m from________________.

2. Have a pair work and each pair speak in front of the class and ask each other how they and where they are from.

C. Communication Practice Activity (Speaking)

1. Ask students to stand in a circle. Take the ball in your hand and say “My name is___________.”

Then throw the ball to another student who does the same.

2. When every student has caught the ball and said their name, take the ball again and say

“My name is ___________, and I come from ___________; until every student has said.

D. Group Activity

Divide the class into three groups and take it in turn to introduce each other.

IV. Evaluation

 Hand out the “Greeting Conversation” and have the students work in pairs.

Greeting a person you haven’t seen for a long time (Informal)

How come I never see you?

It’s been such a long time.

Long time no see.

It’s been ages since we last met.
