Spelling Race
In this session of tutorial for beginners, learners will be able to correctly “Spell” a given word . How does “ Spelling” applies to our daily living. How does“ Spelling” affects the meaning of a word. Why is it important to spell the words correctly?.
Get ready, get set, SPELL! The students battle it out at the white board to see who can spell the words the fastest.
I. Objective: The student will be able to correctly spell a given word before his opponent.
II. Subject Matter: Spelling Race
Materials:
Whiteboard, Markers
III. Learning Activities:
Divide the class into two or three teams. Have one student from each team go to the board. Say a spelling word. The students have to spell it correctly and then kneel on the floor when they are finished. The student who spells it correctly and kneels on the floor wins a point for his team.
The game can really get wild when all three students are kneeling and you are silent because all the words are spelled wrong. To keep it fair, you can allow teammates to start shouting for the student to change something, but do not let them give the student the correct spelling.
IV. Evaluation:
Erase all the words on the board and give eight items spelling test to assess the students.
V. Assignment:
Give five words you have been studied and have the students use it in a sentence.
VI. Closure: This lesson can get everyone involved pretty fired up! If time permits you can use the spelling words to play a game of hangman.
