Introductions Examples in English Lesson
In this starter pack tutorial for beginners, learners will be able to learn the idea of “ Introduction”. What does information need to fill about themselves as “ Introduction”?. How to introduce themselves to a newly meet person. Why is it important to find out the information about each other?.
The purpose of this lesson is to teach students independent work and get involved in discussion, chain activity and a line –up activity.
I. Objective: At the end of the lesson the student would be able to;
-introduce themselves
-fill in the information about themselves
– find out information about each other
II. Subject Matter: Introductions
Materials: 1. “Getting to know you: All about Me” Worksheet
2. “Getting to know you: Interview Question” Worksheet
III. Procedure/ Activities
- Teacher hands out the “Getting to Know You: All about me” worksheet and have them fill in the blanks with their information.
- Independent Writing
Teacher walks around the class and offers advice while the students are writing.
- Chain Activity
Have the students sit in a circle. Starting at one end, a student will give an introduction and say one fact.
Hi, I’m Joy. I grew up in Philippines.
Then the second student will continue in the following manner.
That’s Joy. She grew up in Philippines.
I’m Bob. I’m interested in pop music..
Then the third student will continue:
That’s Joy. She grew up in Philippines.
That’s Bob. He’s interested in pop music.
I’m Noel. I want to be a teacher someday.
It gets more and more difficult as the chain gets longer and longer. You will get lots of respect from your students if you yourself go last.
IV. Evaluation:
Have the students answer the “Getting to know you: Interview Question” Worksheet

Note: This activity is excellent in that students do practice some basic sentence stems over and over again. Second student will be able to get to know each other. Third you the teacher will get a good start at memorizing your students’ names. If the class is too large you may have to omit the exercise or else keep the chain length to maximum of five students.
