The Legend of El Dorado Summary
The story of El Dorado from the Muisca tribe is about a spectacular way of crowning a new king. The legend says that when a king dies, the heir has to be confined in a cave without salt and can’t come out. His first voyage after the king’s death would be to the ceremonial lake of Guatavita. Four priests, embellished with feathers and body ornaments, will surround him, riding in a raft. Thenceforth, the heir to the throne would be naked, but his whole body was covered with gold.
He will become the Golden One or the El Dorado in that ceremony. The people around the lake would play instruments, burn fires, dance, and sing as the pipes and flutes played, rejoicing with the new king.
