“get” is often a difficult verb for English students
It has lots of different uses and meanings.

1. “get“ – as to “receive” something
to get something = to receive something
I got a phone for my birthday.
Sharon got a pair of sunglasses from her friend.
2. “get” – as to “buy”, “obtain” or “fetch”
to get something = to buy / obtain / fetch something
He’s getting some food for lunch.
Jack is getting some books for his brother.
3. “get” – as to “get for someone”
to get somebody something = to buy / obtain / fetch something for somebody
My dad got Ben a bike.
Pat got Carl a backpack for his camping.
4. “get” – as to arrive at a place
-to get somewhere / event = to arrive somewhere
I’m in Bali. I got here last week.
Paul got to the show at 4 o’clock.
5. “get” – as to take
to get a train / bus / flight / taxi = to take/ catch (transport)
I got the plane on time.

6. “get” – a main verb
To get something = to understand something
Ben is trying solve his Math’s problem but he didn’t get the answer.
I’m not attending the conference because I don’t get the agenda.
7. “get” – as “to become”
get + adjective = to become (progressive change)
Glenda is getting sad.
Peter is getting lazy.
