Feelings and Emotions (Adjectives)
In this session of tutorial for beginners, learners will be capable to identify the “feelings and emotions”. What is “feelings and emotions”?. How does feelings distinguish from emotions?. Why does we must aware of our “feelings and emotions”.
This lesson provides an opportunity to assist students to creatively explore feelings through reflection and discussion. The activities help students to understand how they can promote positive feelings in one another by practicing kindness in their daily lives.
1. Objectives: After the lesson the students would be able to:
1. Identify feelings and emotions
2. Describe the different feelings and emotions
3. Write the feelings that make them feel happy or good about themselves

A. Warm-up/ Pre Activity
1. Drill: (Vocabulary Preview)
Teacher writes the different feelings and emotions on the board.

sad cold nervous
hungry tired scared
thirsty sick embarrassed
2. Have the class read the words, then in groups and then individually
B. Activity Proper
B.1 Motivation
1. Teacher shows picture of different feelings and emotions
2. Have the students describe and say something about the picture
B.2 Presentation
The teacher writes these sentences on the board.
a. I am feeling board. I would like to be happier.
b. I am feeling afraid. I would like to feel calmer.
c. I am feeling angry. I would like to feel more peaceful.
C. Discussion
1. Discuss the concept of “Feelings” by asking these questions:
a. What are feelings?
b. Does everyone have feelings?
c. Does everyone have the same feelings? Does everyone express them the same way?
d. How do you feel having a new teacher?
2. Have each student write down the ones that work best for her or him, personally.
D. Generalization:
Ask: What are the different feelings and emotions?
Write students answer on the board and have the whole class read, and then in groups and then individually. (If time permits)
E. Group Activity
The class is divided into three or more groups depending on the number of the students and has each group present in class.
Group 1 Activity 1: Describe what a person looks sand acts like when he or she is feeling:
a. proud b. angry c. happy
d. scared e. embarrassed f. sad
Group 2 Activity 2:
1. Make a list of things you do that make you feel happy or good about yourself.
2. Make a list of things other people (friends, family, and teachers) that make you feel happy or good about yourself.
Group 3 Activity 3:
List all the feelings on a large sheet of chart paper and have students identify the feelings on their list.

- Describe in as much detail as you can what it is like to cry. What it is like to laugh.
- Write a letter telling about a time you really felt good about something. Describe the feeling as fully as possible.
Remediation: Give exercise 2 to enrich the students.
